Want to do this but $15 shipping for 100 postcards is really steep. Are there discount codes you know of?

Yeah there were too many people on that "no" list who are otherwise some of our very best members for me to not consider the notion that they voted no on the rule to express their displeasure at the process but will vote aye on the actual package.

There are legit pros and cons to taking on TikTok, and that being attached to these more pressing matters is political horse trading at its most dubious. But anyone willing to vote down international security aid in defense of TikTok is not someone I can respect easily.

So happy to see my rep as a Yea vote in advancing the aid package to the floor. I called again this morning to encourage her to help push this over the finish line!

Good to see her vote – relieved to see this finally about to pass.

The question is how much damage Speaker Mike Johnson’s six-month-long obstruction has caused to Ukraine’s defense and war effort.

Great news about the vote. But I wonder if you, or any of our Hopium subscribers, know why 39 Democrats voted no.

I believe majority of them refused due to Israel funding

Rep Jayapol was on MSNBC and explained that the vote was no because their were no conditions placed on the funding. Bibi was given free rein to use offensively as he wanted she said. She also emphasized that “the bill will pass”. It sounded like the vote was a vote of concious and knowledgeable it was not enough for obstruction of funds; basically taking a position on a difference of opinion.

"We Don’t Need Convictions To Make Our Case Against Trump".

I've been saying this for months now.

Polls are asking the wrong question. "Will you vote against Trump if he is convicted of criminal offenses in a court of law?" A more pertinent question would be "Do you believe that Trump is guilty of criminal offenses that disqualify him from the Presidency?"

What a straightforward NYT article on the House Ukraine vote! Almost convinces one to restart one's subscription.

Simon, the article on women not receiving emergency medical care is very awkwardly placed and comes out of left field. Then you immediately jump to a comment about the Mueller report. You might what to rethink the layout when you are back home and have good connectivity.

Such hopeful news about the Ukraine funding. I was shocked my Georgia rep (Loudermilk) voted YEA to advance the rule. I called and thanked him and encouraged him to vote yes tomorrow! Have a beautiful weekend, patriots!

Re “waiting for Robert Mueller” - oh boy, I remember the days of “it’s Mueller Time” and the letdown when the Mueller Report did not prove to be a magic bullet. Now, make no mistake, I am *glad* that Trump is sitting in a courtroom facing a judge who has no time for his nonsense. I’m glad that the AG’s of five states - Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Nevada and Georgia - are investigating election fraud. I’m glad that his assets are on the verge of being seized if the bond he put up is no good, and I get a juvenile laugh out of the fact that the man who put up the bond is literally named “Mr. Hankey.”

But I feel like some people - not here and not on the VoteDem subreddit! - think that bringing Trump to trial is going to be another magic bullet, another One Weird Trick MAGA’s Hate. It is true that if Trump is a convicted criminal, he will lose some support. But, like with the Access Hollywood tapes, the Mueller Report, January 6, and I’m sure I haven’t touched all of them - the trial(s) won’t be the magic bullet. The only way out of this is to soundly defeat Trump, and downballot Republicans, at the ballot box. Which is why I’m so glad that Democrats now have so many grassroots ways to get out the vote, and that sites like Hopium and the VoteDem subreddit exist to help channel outrage into action, and that we finally have decent leadership at the DNC again (Jaimie Harrison is the best since Howard Dean. Fight me) and better funding, leadership and organization of many state Democratic parties.

I remember the big, beautiful blue tsunami of the 2006 midterms (we still have Tester and Brown from them), how that carried over into Obama’s election, and then all that energy just went *poof!* in 2010. Partly it was complacency (“we have the White House, and by extension SCOTUS, who needs Congress and the state houses, amirite?”), partly recession-induced apathy, and partly how the state and local Democratic branches got defunded and put out to pasture by Obama and his team. (Obama was a great President and a path-breaker, but this is where I am gonna fault him big time.) I see this energy coming back and then some from 2018 on. Let’s keep it up. THIS is how we beat Trump. We can’t rely on some hero on his noble steed (or in a judge’s robe) to save us.

Simon, I opened my phone and saw that the Ukraine Funding passed! Great to get that message from you.

I have a question. Do you know how the Biden campaign either is or plans to engage Haley voters and soft Republicans? There are progressive groups out there, but I wonder also where those who are ex-Maga or Never Trumpers are finding their place in being able to reach out to ex-Maga or never Trumpers to vote for Biden? Suggestions? I would really like to pass that information along to people who are looking to be able to do that work.

If anyone else knows, I would love that information as well! We are a pro-democracy coalition - that's how we win!

Thank you for coming to Arizona. We have doubled our grassroots Worry Less - Do More Postcard Project to a total 40,000 postcards to AZCD06 and have added Ruben Gallego to the “Vote For” list which includes AZ for Abortion Access, Kirsten Engel, and Joe Biden. We need more volunteers so we can reach all men and women who are registered to vote in AZCD06 who support reproductive rights but score in the mid-range for turnout and need encouragement to vote in November.

Anyone who lives in Southern Arizona and would like to help, please email me at jcmarcotte@gmail.com Onward!

We absolutely want to support Ruben Gallego to win his senate seat in AZ! . But another place to support Arizona that is critically important is to flip both state legislature chambers blue - we only need two seats in each chamber to be a Democratic majority which would make Arizona a Democratic trifecta! The States Project has identified a number of tipping point districts that will get us there and with abortion on the ballot as a constitutional amendment this fall lots of young people are going to get out and vote. State legislatures exert so much power over peoples' lives and in the last 2 weeks the GOP majority in AZ's legislature has blocked the Democrats' efforts to repeal the extreme 1864 territorial abortion ban that goes into effect June 5th three times! Please check out this great 1 minute video that details the work of The States Project in Arizona: Arizona Version of 2024 Starts Now Video

And then please consider donating to our Arizona giving circle "Take Back our States" so we can wrest control from the Republican extremists in AZ once and for all! https://bit.ly/takebackourstatesGC

THE STATE LEGISLATURES - NOT WHERE THE GLAMOUR - JUST WHERE THE POWER IS!
