4 New Polls Show Biden Leading Again, GDP at 5.2%!!!!!!!, Winning North Carolina
Watch My Great Conversation with Anderson Clayton, NC Dem Chair
Friends, got a few things for you today:
Biden Regains The Lead In National Polling - So, all 4 national polls out this week showing Biden leading Trump again:
44%-42% Economist/YouGov - Trump led 43%-42% in mid November
43%-42% Morning Consult - Trump led 44%-41% last week
39%-37% YouGov (this is a seperate poll by the same firm)
37%-35% Leger/The Canadian Press
In the Morning Consult track Biden gained 4 points since last week, and in Economist/YouGov he gained 3 points since mid-November. While things are volatile, and may change again, it seems pretty clear Biden’s numbers have recovered from the dip they took this fall.
Our friend Stephen Clermont at Change Research also noted this morning that in this new Economist/YouGov poll, which is done entirely on-line and does not use phones, 18-29 year olds were 52%-25% (+27) Biden-Trump and 50%-33% (+17) Biden-Trump with 30-44 year olds. Much more in line with what we would expect at this point.
We have a long way to go in the 2024 election but 2023 was a very blue year, and these new polls are deeply encouraging. As I like to say, in every way possible, as we head into 2024 I would much rather be us than them. Chins up everyone.
Winning North Carolina in 2024 - My Interview With Anderson Clayton - As the 2023 elections are behind us now, it is time to start turning our attention fully to 2024. As a first step in that process, last night I hosted Anderson Clayton, the new, dynamic Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party, for a discussion on we win next year in this critical battleground state.
In 2023 our community has worked together to help win the Wisconsin Supreme Court seat, help Donna Deegan take Jacksonville away from DeSantis and the Republicans, and beat Glenn Youngkin in Virginia earlier this month. When I began Hopium in March I didn’t really know what would happen, but I think we’ve learned that when we try to go get something done, together, we can do remarkable things.
One of those remarkable things we are going to do together next year is to win North Carolina. I’ve put together a new page, Winning North Carolina, which has a link to my interview with Chair Clayton, opportunities to learn more about this critical battleground state and most importantly, to get involved. Today I am launching a fundraising drive for the Hopium community for Anderson’s state party, and hope to raise together $50,000 by March 31st, 2024. We raised over $200,000 together for those 6 Virginia states legislative races in just two weeks, resources that were critical us keeping the Senate and flipping the House earlier this month. I am pretty confident that we can raise that $50,000 together over the next few months for the good people of North Carolina.
In the coming days I will be laying out some early thinking about what our Hopium community does together in 2024. I want us to be guided by the idea of expansion, getting to 55 as we call it here. North Carolina is the most important expansion state in the 2024 Presidential battleground. Supporting youth vote activities grows our coalition, everywhere. Backing key challengers in the US House will help us flip the House. Be thinking about what we should together in 2024 and we will start that conversation in earnest next week. And do watch my interview with Chair Clayton and start planning how you are going to help us win North Carolina next year.
One another way you can help win North Carolina is by participating in a December 5th All in to Win fundraiser for NC Dems with GA Senator Raphael Warnock and many of our grassroots allies across the country. It looks like a great event and it’s exciting to see this level of intensity already for this critical political project next year.
Looking forward to working with all of you in the next year to not just win but to get to 55!
Q3 GDP Growth Revised Upward to 5.2%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep working hard all. We are winning - Simon
Thanks, Simon. You encourage us; may it return to you every day. Perspective on polls much appreciated.
We can't say polls don't matter when they are against us and that we are winning when the polls favor us. Just content and contrast who would do what that will impact our lives.
