Hamas just fired missiles at a border crossing where aid was being brought in, forcing it to close. Before this, Hamas has a long history of stealing and diverting aid for their own use or profit. Things are not so simple...

Ty Simon. I just read a 538 Poll yesterday. It wasn’t in our favor as of then. It was an interactive map of the USA. I don’t rely on them it still always out. I’m sure we will be fine. Thank u for these polls though!

Great news to start the new week! We are busy in Oregon with our DEM Neighbor Leader Program! And DT is so broke, he could not afford the $3500 for a statement in the OR Voter Pamphlet. :-) So it looks like he isn't even running. 😂

This is excellent news. The 538 pollster ratings rank ABC News as the second most accurate pollster, behind only the New York Times/Siena College. Marist is ranked #6. These are among the gold standard of pollsters. That's out of more than 200 pollsters ranked, based on their historical accuracy in predicting elections and their transparency about their methods.

If Biden is up 4-5 percent in these polls among likely voters, that's most likely where likely voters actually are. I suspect some of this has to do with Trump being in the courtroom for the past two weeks (not a good look) and the bad news on abortion from Florida and Arizona. Remember that likely voters are the Americans who are most likely to be paying attention to the news, because it matters for how they will vote. I expect their social interactions with the broader class of registered voters will bring some of them around to Biden, and to voting in the fall election.

Simon I recently watched a video that claimed that pollsters use the census to build their models of the electorate. The host then argued that COVID hit Republican voters disportionately, making the census data too skewed and resulting in polls that are too generous to GOP vote share.

I don't know enough about the polling industry to tell how accurate this is, but it sounds like a plausible explanation for what is happening right now with the consistent undercounting of Democratic support.

This advice is for Republicans who read Simon's posts (all seven of them): Mr. Trump says it's too easy to rig early and mail-in votes, so WAIT FOR ELECTION DAY TO VOTE! Tell your friends and family!

Lindsey “Lickspittle Toady” Graham said that if the GOP allowed Trump to become its face, the GOP would be destroyed, and deserve it. Of course, Grovelin’ Graham full-on embraced his evil overlord once said evil overlord was actually installed, but, nobody accused Graham of having a spine, either.

Graham may be a cowardly and not a courageous Cassandra, but I think he was right.

For anyone who is a Vote Forward letter writer, I wanted to share an upcoming Zoom event on how to message reluctant voters in Swing states. Here is the blurb from Olivia B. who coordinates a virtual letter writing party for Do The Most Good that meets weekly:

"We are all hoping the letters will encourage infrequent voters in swing states to vote in the November election by writing something that resonates with them. Wouldn't it be good to know what really matters to voters in those states to help you craft your message? Or do you wonder how to talk with friends or relatives who aren't sure if they will vote in November? Well, DoTheMostGood has the event for you! Sign up for our "Messaging Reluctant Voters" virtual event on May 15th from 7 - 8:00 pm EDT. Paul Kendrick, Executive Director, Rust Belt Rising, will tell us about his research on the issues important for voters in swing states and how to address them in productive ways."

A request. Could a Hopium Community Vote Forward Letter writer post to recommend from the Paul Kendrick “Messaging Reluctant Voters” Do The Most Good May 15th, Rust Belt Rising event, how to adapt personal messages to each State.

This household writes zillions of postcards, easier when scripts are provided, and write Vote Forward Letters, using a generic Script.

To adapt for each State could lead to more powerful personal messages, that I find more challenging.

I’d love to hear more clearly your opinion about the college campus demonstrations…I understand your belief that the illegal activities and disruptions they are causing to finals and graduations are uncalled for and unacceptable…

My rabbi is an ardent activist in support of Palestinians and recently joined a small group of activist rabbis who went to Israel and attempted to bring aid into Gaza at a crossing, in a symbolic gesture of support for the suffering happening in Gaza.

He is consumed by his passion about this, and he attended a demonstration happening at DePaul University in downtown Chicago last night that he said was very peaceful and he saw Chicago police snipers on the roof of the Art Institute building, or perhaps the School of the ARt Institute across the street…he believes strongly that these demonstrations will only grow and become more intense over the summer..

I hope desperately that he is wrong! AND I am very worried about the Dem Convention in Chicago in August…might we, God forbid, see a repeat of the 1968 convention? I’m also afraid that maybe some MAGA folks might be involved in making these demonstrations violent, or might get involved in protests at the Convention to make things look bad for Biden.

I am NOT a conspiracy theorist most of the time, but I really am worried about this. What do you think? And do you think the Dems are considering these possibilities and doing all they can to create a peaceful Convention with police protection that won’t run wild? CPS can be pretty bad.

I've written extensively on these matters this week, and dive into it in my presentation too. We don't know what happens with this movement after schools end in the coming weeks. There is not broad support for these protests or their tactics among voters or even young people. There is no evidence right now it is hurting Biden as this week is officially the best week of polling he's had this year. I have also written this week how these protests are nothing like 1968. Finally, we don't come here to dump our worries on to other people. We all have worries. Our job is to take these worries and channel them into concrete action. I am sharing good news today. Stay in the light, take the wins when they come and choose not to descend into worry and bring all of us along in that process - Simon

So sorry if I offended folks. I have always been totally committed to activism and have already put together a postcard writing group that is writing 2800 postcards to Swing States, I’m going up to the Milwaukee DMV to register voters, & will be canvassing in Kenosha, WI frequently between now and the election, including staying at a B & B on election weekend so I can canvass for a few days to work on GOTV.

Nevertheless, many of us have worries and I’ve seen them expressed in comments here, and Simon has been super helpful in reassuring many of us that there is much to feel hopeful about. I’ve recommended him to a number of friends who are now also subscribers.

I thought it was acceptable to voice concerns here and get support, but I apologize to anyone who felt « dumped on. »
