This is a great Contrarian column by Jen Rubin with concrete suggestions about what to do to fight the Trump regime's current assault on free speech, using the Kirk assassination as a pretext. https://contrarian.substack.com/p/talking-points-wont-cut-it

Thanks Simon. Busy day for me today, but have a Dem club meeting tonight where focus will be on prop 50. Love the expansion fund and excited to learn more about it. Have to get ready to go, but will listen to interview on the road, and wanted to share this article about what seems like a bit of good news with a chance to flip a seat in Texas. https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2025/9/17/2344011/-Can-a-Tejano-legend-turn-this-once-blue-stronghold-back-to-the-Democrats

Thanks for the link.

Thank you, Simon, for posting Gov. Walz’s reelection ad. It gave me goosebumps! I just love him. If I was ten years younger, I would move to Minnesota. 💙

P.S. Nikki Fried is amazing too!

You don't have to be ten years younger Punkette! There are lots of "olds" here. LOL

Aww, thanks, Marte! 🫶🏼 I am a young-ish 66 and would relocate tomorrow, but my partner is disabled with various illnesses and moving across the country is no longer an option for us. Ten years ago, we could have done it. Love and hugs to Minnesota! It’s exciting that Simon is speaking at the Minnesota DFL fundraiser in St. Paul tonight and I hope you are going!

Called Senators Cortez Masto & Rosen to urge them to speak out vocally against *both* political violence and the weaponization of grief to silence the voices of political opposition. The staffers in both offices seemed to appreciate the call.

And I already have several sign-ups for the postcarding parties to contact voters in CA, VA, & PA. Let's win in November!

ON REPEAT:

“One need not hope in order to undertake, nor succeed in order to persevere.”

- William The Silent, aka William, Prince of Orange, April 24, 1533 - July 10, 1584.

Was a Dutch Revolt leader against Spain. He was the first European politician to be assassinated by a gun.

Epstein, Epstein, Epstein. The UK Ambassador has been sacked for his connections to Epstein; it will be interesting to see how the Brits manage the visit of Dolos next week (timestamp - 3:50): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghEt48-mXOQ . Lastly, Bloomberg has found 18,000 emails from Maxwell and Epstein (to paraphrase: “BUT HIS EMAILS”): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXVrvMj0Lwc&list=TLPQMTEwOTIwMjXDWi62TBkL-g . I wonder what the “over-under” is for next week’s state visit. I’m asking for a friend.

Folks:

A number of clinicians (even with the Goldwater rule) had warned on multiple occasions that Dolos was mentally unfit to lead the most powerful nation on the planet: https://bandyxlee.substack.com/p/violence-begets-violence-d73 . It is possible that we are dealing with something more psychological than political: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9vluA-XZak&list=TLPQMTYwOTIwMjVm2i-FTvCWLw . This concept might seem blasphemous on this platform, but there is likely some truth to this observation.

With this in mind, please watch this interview with Nick Carmody, a lawyer and psychotherapist (ADULT LANGUAGE, timestamps - 14:05, 15:00, 16:21, 17:21, 18:24, 21:10*, 21:59**, 23:00, 26:18, 27:07, 28:46, 29:41, 32:00, 35:27, 39:18*, 46:01**, 47:05**, 48:06, 49:23**, 49:47**, 51:48, 53:18, 54:10*, 55:19***, 56:03*, 1:02:58*, 1:10:08, 1:12:28, 1:14:55***, 1:19:48**, 1:20:44, 1:21:31, and 1:22:33***): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sd0DY7HeM9k . Mr. Carmody has provided one of the most accessible takes on Dolos as a malignant narcissist on the net. His articles are available on Patreon and on Substack: https://www.patreon.com/posts/57588045 . As usual, the entire interview is worth a listen.

The most important takeaway is that Dolos only cares about himself - PERIOD. Carmody explains how this self-absorption manifests itself in the incessant lying and the overall illiberal behavior. It is important to understand that Dolos will always put himself before the nation: https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/trump-biggest-corruption-scandal-isn-220315845.html. He cannot help himself.

CARTHAGO DELENDA EST (via nonviolence).

P.S.: Do the following now! FIRST, TEACH CIVICS. Second, register voters. THIRD, TEACH CIVICS. Rinse. Repeat.

I am very excited that the Audacious Expansion includes Iowa! I think we have a very good chance at winning in HD 1 (where I live) and at least a chance at the Senate seat and governorship. I just donated.

Have a great time tonight! So wish I could come, but can't risk crowds with my lung issues. Still trying to decide if I should reactivate my ActBlue so I can donate that way. I have been sending checks to individual candidates and will be supporting the Iowa races.

Simon, thanks for that interview; Nikki is really impressive.

I called Congressman Raskin and Senators Alsobrooks and Van Hollen to ask them to ensure Marylanders can get the COVID vaccine and to stop the expansion of ICE. I'm writing postcards to VA voters today.

Minnesota is where I was raised and went to school, and Florida is where I live now.

I'm very glad Walz is running again. I told a colleague of mine who lives in Minnesota about the gathering today. Hopefully he will think about it attending.

Nikki Fried is great. I'm encouraged by Jolly's numbers. I've been donating on a recurring basis to his campaign. I'm hoping that Nikki and David can get a good partisan voter registration effort together for Florida. I did a lot of voter registration here in 2016, but none since.

I started 70 postcards for California proposition 50 for redistricting. I'll get those out by Saturday. I still have 50 postcards to send tomorrow which are completed. Those were to the PA Supreme Court race.

I watched the video now. I haven't been contacted, I think, but I signed up to do voter registration again at the Florida Dems website. I verified I had been signed up but so far I haven't been contacted. I did get some emails back in March.

I also gave to the state parties in the Audacious fund on a recurring basis, and I gave to the California Prop 50 as well.

Today, September 17 is the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution 238 years ago. Constitution Day... may it rise again like a Phoenix. Senator Schiff announces legislation to add further guardrails, including overturning Citizens United. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hedLbONFEBM And other true LEADERS in the Dem Party and non-profits are also speaking up in this announcement.

I find it inspirational. "The Constitution is alive and living today because of the actions We, the People, are taking today, to defend it!"

I called my Electeds, spoke with a staff for my house rep, and left voicemails for my Senators. Message was the same: Tell leadership to let the public know how you are standing up for them and against the big ugly in budget negotatiations. What are you fighting for? Leadership must get LOUD on this and on suppression/intimidation of 1st amendment after Charlie Kirk murder. I think budget demands should be 1) Article One tariff control, 2) NIH and vaccine funding, 3) ICE funding back to pre-ugly levels, Pass the No Secret Police Act, Stop Trump private presidential forces 4) Support and Fund Ukraine, 5) Release the Epstein Files.

I sent a contribution to the Audacious fund,

Simon, in your interview with Nikki Fried you mentioned "national headwinds". I think you meant tailwinds...

I'm also contributing and postcarding for prop 50 CA redistricting.

We could all probably use a refresher on the basics of free speech and the limited exceptions, given the current crusade by Bondi, Miller and Vance.

Link is to the ACLU’s informational overview. The limited exceptions to freedom of speech include true threats, incitement, slander/libel, and child porn. They do NOT include hate speech. That’s why we had to put up with the marchers at Charlottesville.

It is not illegal to speak ill of Charlie Kirk or any other right-wing goon out there trying to turn this country into an oppressive fascist white supremacist neo-confederate regime.
