My biggest fear is that Trump gets convicted before the republican 2024 convention, giving the GOP establishment to hand select their candidate & the go with a low-key popular, but still extremely racist, misogynist, and vile as trump & DeSantis.... Glen youngkin. We need to start getting the word out about his extremism as well.
that's why it's so important to work to elect Democrats in VA in November! The less power Youngkin has in his home state, the worse a potential Presidential candidate he'll be.
I phonebanked for Vote No Ohio DP last Thursday. It was a good experience. They train you on first half and it is easy to learn. HIGHLY recommend for first timers. U need a laptop and a phone that you use to call into a robo-dialer, so your ID is anonymous. Even just sign in to train and learn process til you are comfortable.
Here is link! Hope to see you there Tues/ Thurs 5:30-7:30 until election. Sign up!
Simon’s push of Biden’s economic achievements was not only praised by Morgan Stanley this week.....
But here is a nice vid from MTN, featuring NoLie BTC from a year ago getting loud then and we have so MUCH more now to be louder about! Calling out Gov of AK a Rep from NY and former Senator all bashing IRA who now are choking on crow on M Knowles show. Time for BTC to get back on there armed with latest facts.
Watch as Simon’s Economic message is trickling in & reaching 1.3M plus pro democracy fans as a pick me up!
My Sister District in CA is working to elect Michael Feggans to the Virginia House of Delegates District 97. This seat was narrowly won by a R in 2021. The Virginia House of Delegates is currently controlled by Rs and a win in this seat can help to flip to Democratic control. We do phonebanking, texting, postcarding, and fundraising for the candidate. He even came out to CA and attended a local meeting with us and we will have a group of volunteers going to Virginia to do canvassing.
On Ohio, winning on Aug. 8 is vital to winning on abortion in November. Also, the GOTV effort for issue 1 as well as the November abortion initiative helps improve the database of Democratic voters that will be instrumental in holding on to this Senate seat in 2024. I have been writing, and organizing the writing, of postcards to Ohio voters, phone banking with Ohio Democratic party, and answering calls on the Ohio Democratic party voter assistance line. Helping by phone banking or, if you are in Ohio, going door to door, is helpful, or if you can't spare the time then contribute to the Ohio Democratic party so they can fund these efforts. I am a big fan of the ground game, which suggests contributing to the Democratic party instead of contributing to candidates or issues which tends to go towards TV advertizing.
We appreciate all the help we can get in Virginia! I encourage folks to take a peek at my latest post on the VA elections at https://open.substack.com/pub/kindler/p/stop-the-next-desantis-from-destroying and drop in on Blue Virginia (bluevirginia.us) any time to get the latest Virginia political news & progressive commentary. Both Blue VA and I can be found on multiple social media platforms (Threads, Twitter, here, eto.).
Thanks so much for the update, Simon!!! Also, thanks to everyone else for sharing how to help.
As a side note, if anyone is interested I’ll be starting a Substack also. Don’t expect much...I’m no Simon after all, but I’ll do my best. Here’s the link for anyone wanting to check it out and the first post goes live tonight.
I live in Tennessee. I would be interested in covering my local politics definitely. Right now, my goal is to help my local community save our OB department and make our court square more pedestrian friendly and safe (pedestrian only if there is enough interest and support). We just tonight lost a second pedestrian life in a few months on the court square.
Seeing how much success and support cities had with pedestrian only streets in 2020-2021, I feel like there’s a lot of possibilities and I’ve had positive conversations from other citizens. Do you mean like that or like House of Representatives races or the push to elect out Senator Marsha Blackburn?
Hi Matt, interesting comments. Well sure all of it, as you gain confidence in your (can I coin ‘Simon Style’) coverage of issues important to you and your community, city, then state. Perhaps consider even running for local office if you can or help TNDP find good candidates.
I know of TN’s new political awesomeness on the Justin’s. But it certainly seems like TN has to claw it’s peoples rights back, and that takes time and building.
But Simon is so inspiring. How cool would it be to have city and state ‘Simon Scholars’ on Substack that model his attention to grassroots orgs making change with the data and facts to support. Honesty & integrity from the bottom up and the Civil put back in Civil Service. Lovely!
So I am just a housewife politics junkie in NC. I am volunteering as often as I can, but I am a cheerleader at heart. So I am happy to follow you and cheer. I love the interviews that Simon does, so I would encourage you to do some of that.
I did a quick search and found an interesting Vanderbilt poll from April/May (see above link). I am fairly new to polling and know nothing about this one’s reliability, but it does continue to show similar good news for Democrats and bad news for Republicans. For example, most Tennesseans disagree with forcing a mother to give birth in instances of rape or of danger to the mother’s life (in contrast to our current laws in TN). The poll says 82% of TN voters want it legal to protect a mother’s life or protect from serious health risk.
I haven’t fully grappled with the data they give on 2024 presidential candidates (note: they do make the mistake about “third party” candidates...still think this is worse for Rs than for Ds). My gut says that if only 42% of TN voters say they’d vote for Trump with 26% for Biden and 31% for an unnamed “someone else”. Here me out. If these are accurate, in TN Trump is down from 60.7% in 2016 (https://ballotpedia.org/Presidential_election_in_Tennessee,_2016) and down from the same 60.7% in 2020 (https://ballotpedia.org/Presidential_election_in_Tennessee,_2020). I feel like that is exactly what Simon and I have been saying, 2 out of 3 of those “someone else” votes in Tennessee voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020. We just need to be loud and proud about all the Biden Team has been able to accomplish. If we are, I’m pretty sure those “someone else” votes will start feeling better about Joe Biden being their “someone else”.
Because Joe Biden has been a good president and America is better off.
So keep up the good conversations, everyone. Our neighbors are listening. 😊
I'm supporting critical legislative races in Virginia through Sister District, which works to build progressive power in the states by flipping state legislatures from red to blue in swing states. We fund raise and phone bank, and write postcards/texts if asked. We work strategically in tight races where we can make a difference.

Aint gonna happen. Trump's MO is to delay litigation and I would be very surprised if any trial actually takes place before the Nov. 2024 election.
I'm writing 10 postcards for the Ohio "Vote No" campaign.
Here’s another link to help support reproductive freedom in Florida. It provides options for Spanish and Haitian Creole petitions.

I sub’d Matt! Thanks for putting yourself out there! That is so wonderful,
Thank so much for the feedback, B Johnson! Hope you find something valuable in what I have to say 😃

Here is a guy from TN in the pro democracy movement who posts on MTN. Maybe? He can be an interview for you in the future.
Sincerely All the Best, and I am proud of you for getting out there! We all need to get in where we fit in.
Your words encourage my heart...thank you so much for the advice and encouragement. They were much needed today.
