I so appreciate your optimism and ideas for a call to action. And Beverly's comment below is spot on. Today Steve Schmidt posted his Substack "The Warning" with a bashing of President Biden and how he should step aside because he was too old. Since I am not a paid subscriber and can't comment I was curious to read the comments from his paid subscribers. I got through about a third of them and was pleasantly surprised to see so many (actually nearly all) push back. There was overwhelming support for President Biden and lots of folks taking Schmidt to task for his post. That is exactly what we need!!!
April 15, Steve Schmidt wrote Sickly Senators where he cited his admiration for Roberts and has pity for Alito. Recently canceled my $100. sub to his substack after less than a year. My comment on the April 15 column was: “Your unfailing admiration of Roberts is puzzling. At the time of his hearings and your involvement, understandable. But with all that has passed since? Same with Alito who you describe as an angry, aggrieved extremist who lied at his hearings. But, then you write, sounding sympathetic, that Alito was profoundly psychologically jarred by the experience, never got over it and now he’s an angry man with a chip on his shoulder. Oh but Dems along with Republicans are to blame because GWBush first nominated the unqualified Harriet Miers and they pulverized her? Should we set up a Go Fund Me for psychotherapy for Alito? Where is the tiny violin.”
To reverse the decades-long economic narrative and boost voters' perception of Biden's economic record, charts and graphs work well, but we also need to contextualize the numbers (2 job openings for every unemployed person) and visualize the numbers (help-wanted signs are everywhere). The same holds true for reminding people how well the Biden Admin has done on covid to contrast with the disaster of Benedict Donald's administration(stadiums are full, concerts are sold out). I invite some brainstorming here...
