Simon. What is the most effective way to take on the media coverage that is essentially the Twitter handle NYPitchbot in action all over the MSM? Is there a coordinated effort in place that we can become part of to push back and demand fair reporting? To get loud in a coordinated way? The NYT headline doing the bothsides of the shutdown was enraging.
I've recently been made aware, and joined, the group Media and Democracy. The media is their focus and how we can make them stop the "both sidesism". Here is the link to their upcoming events. Please check them out and join us as we try to hold the press accountable. They will also be hosting Ruth Ben-Ghiat on Wednesday evening. https://www.mobilize.us/mediademocracyproject/
Thanks so much. I will sign up for this asap. We have to win this media battle or at least even it up!
I use an app called Climate Action Now which allows you to pretty much effortlessly send emails to news outlets and companies asking them to either report on an issue or to correct reporting. It's fast and easy. Someone has done the research and has prepared the letter, but it can be edited as you wish. It can be done from your phone. I can see how this can be done allowing thousands to call out the both side isim and demand accurate reporting beyond tweets or comments to stories which I am not sure do much.
Don't forget, in 2021, the control of the House of Delegates changed hands by a just total of 773 votes across three districts! That's minuscule...a fraction of a percentage point -- literally, a margin of effort that far exceeds the margin of error for these downballot races.
This is ALL about making those door knocks and phone calls to encourage the majority of Virginians who share our values, to vote for those values—including protecting our freedom to decide if, when or how to start or grow our families, the freedom to learn the truth of our history in schools and libraries, and the freedom to love who we love and be who we dream to be, without government criminalizing us or sanctioning others racism and discrimination against us.
Here's are two of the many phone banks you can join:
Fellow patriots, we have so many opportunities to flip the script. Virginia is next, but there is an opportunity in Florida (yes, Florida) in January to send a message. There will be a special election. Here is the quote from an article in today's Tampa Bay times:
The special general election in January could be a major bellwether for whether donors across the state and the country decide to invest in the 2024 races, Jacobs said.
“Specials are tough because Republicans are going to point all of their firepower and spend tons of money on this race,” Jacobs said. “But it is winnable for Democrats. And being able to flip a Republican district in January of 2024 would certainly send a really strong message.”
Thanks, Annette. This special election is so important for FL. Bring it on with 27 -year-old, Sarah Henry and Nate Douglas,22.
Rep Amnesty😱needs to go !
And now Don Gaetz, father of you-know-who ,is seeking to return to Fl Senate . It’s probably a given with his MAGA district and seeing the other Repub candidate has withdrawn. The former Senate president wants to make Florida more affordable. I had to laugh…sounds like a great campaign slogan against our governor/ tanking-in-the -polls presidential candidate !
This may hurt the GOP in the VA elections, as will the shutdown that is looming, although they tried to push it just past the election. This is also going to hurt GOP chances to retake the house, which they were probably going to lose anyway.
Excited to have you here Evan!

T - have you seen this video? https://youtu.be/yUN3mFMNZlU - I think it's up to us. We have to do it. We can't rely on anyone else.
Can’t wait to phone bank and canvass. This is setting up for a strong 2024, let’s not squander it and have a repeat of 2021.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
