Friends, got a few things for you today:

Republicans Keep Betraying The Country/We Keep Doing The Work - rallying behind an insurrectionist for Speaker, blocking hundreds of critical appointments to the Pentagon and State Department in a time of rising global tensions, covering up for Trump’s outrageous crimes, taking billions from foreign governments and then embracing positions advantageous to them……America has never seen anything like it before in our history.

We cannot look away; and it’s why we keep doing the work. Whatever election you are working on this fall - thank you. Hope everyone here will donate/volunteer in Virginia (links). I will also have info in the coming days for those wanting to support youth work there but you can start by making a donation of any amount to the Young Democrats of Virginia and check out this video:

Another Note on the New Biden/DNC Fundraising Numbers - In my post yesterday I forgot to mention perhaps the most important news in the new fundrasing numbers - 34% of the donors so far were not 2020 donors. Very encouraging. Growth, expansion = winning. How we get to 55.

Why We Need To Win - In my With Democrats, Things Get Better presentation, I end with a reminder that the world imagined and built by FDR and the Democrats after WWII has created a golden age in human history. In a time of extraordinary crisis, FDR imagined a world built around four simple freedoms, not autocracy or dominion over others:

This world that was imagined and built by us, by Democrats, has created more opportunity for the people of the world to have “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” than any other time in our history. Let’s look at some data.

More people are living in democracies than any time in history:

The number of people living in extreme poverty is far lower today than ever before:

Life expectancy for people across the world has exploded, reaching unprecedented heights:

This world we imagined, built and are fighting for now is what Russia, China, Hamas, Hizbollah and others are trying to tear down. They don’t want a world built upon freedom; rather they want a world built upon dominion, on control, on autocracy and oligarchy - as Dr. Tim Snyder calls it “unfreedom.” Preserving this global system built upon freedom is a central reason why we are here, why we keep doing the work, why we are spreading Hopium. For we want this world of unprecedented opportunities and possibilities to be there for our kids, our grand kids and the children of the world as it was for us. It’s why we are, why we keep doing the work - because what we do matters, the stakes are oh so very high, and the people of America and the world are counting on us to prevail.
