Good New Arizona Poll, Biden's Successful Presidency, Brain Worms and Porn Stars
The President's Powerful Speech on The "Ferocious Surge" of Antisemitism
Happy Wednesday all. Got a few things for you today:
Good New Arizona Poll, Trump’s GOP Primary Struggles Continue, More on 2024 - A new poll by a conservative, highly-rated, conservative Arizona-based pollster Data Orbital has Biden up 1 and Gallego up 4. It is the first time Biden has led in an Arizona poll since June, 2023.
Last night we saw another example of Trump struggling and underperforming when people actually go vote. Nikki Haley received 22% of the vote in the Indiana Republican Primary.
Here’s my take on where things are - Joe Biden is a good President. The country is better off. National polling is close and competitive, within margin of error. We’ve gained a few points in recent weeks in the national vote and in the Congressional generic. The two sets of battleground polls out last week had every single state within margin of error. We got an encouraging poll out of Arizona yesterday, and yes Trump got a good PA poll, one which was, for the record, conducted by the lead pollster for the Trump campaign. As I wrote yesterday Senate and House polling is good, and the GOP’s “bad candidate” in the battlegrounds problem has returned. We have enormous financial and organizational advantages right now. Trump has the most disqualifying “negatives” we’ve ever seen, and a deeply consequential rebellion inside his party is becoming an existential threat to his candidacy. Due to Biden’s successful Presidency Trump’s central attacks against the President are evaporating (see below).
Finally, as I wrote on Sunday, we have a lot of evidence, including last night’s strong Nikki Haley vote in Indiana, that as Americans get closer to voting - moving from registered voter to likely voter to voters - Trump and Republicans lose ground, and we gain. And the problem for Trump and the Rs is the whole country has begun going through that process now and will continue to do so as we go deeper into 2024 (here’s a link for this Hill piece, below).
We have a long way to go in this election (too long). There are going to be good days and bad days. But I am not worried, I am determined. If we put our heads down and do the work, together, we can and should win.
For more on the 2024 election come watch my new video presentation, Why I Am Optimistic We Will Win This November. It’s full of data, analysis and even a bit of Hopium.
Biden’s Successful Presidency Is Causing The Core GOP Attacks Against Him To Evaporate - Consider:
The economy is historically strong, not weak
Inflation is way down, not rising
Crime rates are plummeting, not raging
There is no Biden war on energy - 2023 saw record renewable, oil and gas production here in the US, making our country far more energy independent then we’ve been in decades
Due to Trump’s idiocy and madness, Democrats are now the party of order at the border, the GOP the party of chaos
Biden has criticized the overreach of the protests, vigorously condemned antisemitism here in the US, and is working hard to bring a two state solution, Palestinian statehood and peace to the Middle East despite his terrible “ally” Netanyahu
The Biden crime family narrative turned out to be a Russian information operation once again laundered by their allies in America’s GOP
Concerns about Biden’s age were greatly assuaged by his strong State of the Union performance, and by the revelation that the Special Counsel LIED about Biden’s memory problems
Due to the success of the Biden Presidency, I believe the election is shifting now from a referendum on Biden to a referendum on Trump and all his awfulness - and that my friends is very bad news indeed for the GOP. I was able to talk about Biden’s successful Presidency in the Wall Street Journal today:
“The lizard brain of the modern Republican party is that they gain power based on chaos, urban riots, protests and crime,” said Democratic strategist Simon Rosenberg. But 2024 isn’t 1968, he said, and people are realizing that the reality on the ground is far different than the dire picture the GOP would like to paint. He pointed to the modest increase in Biden’s recent polling to argue that the president’s approach is working. “I know they’re going to try to make this case that with Biden we’ve seen a rise in chaos and uncertainty, but I think he can counter by saying he made the country far better and he’s been a successful president, which is true.”
Biden Condemns “Ferocious Surge” of Antisemitism - President Biden gave a forceful speech at the Holocaust Museum’s Annual Day of Remembrance Ceremony yesterday. Here are some excerpts:
During these sacred Days of Remembrance, we grieve. We give voice to the 6 million Jews who were systematically targeted and murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators during World War Two. We honor the memory of victims, the pain of survivors, the bravery of heroes who stood up to Hitler’s unspeakable evil. And we recommit to heading and heeding the lessons that [of] one of the darkest chapters in human history, to revitalize and realize the responsibility of “never again.”
Never again, simply translated for me, means “never forget.” Never forget. Never forgetting means we must keep telling the story. We must keep teaching the truth. We must keep teaching our children and our grandchildren.
And the truth is we are at risk of people not knowing the truth…..
……. This ancient hatred of Jews didn’t begin with the Holocaust; it didn’t end with the Holocaust, either, or after — or even after our victory in World War Two. This hatred continues to lie deep in the hearts of too many people in the world, and it requires our continued vigilance and outspokenness.
That hatred was brought to life on October 7th in 2023. On a sacred Jewish holiday, the terrorist group Hamas unleashed the deadliest day of the Jewish people since the Holocaust.
Driven by ancient desire to wipeout the Jewish people off the face of the Earth, over 1,200 innocent people — babies, parents, grandparents — slaughtered in their kibbutz, massacred at a musical festival, brutally raped, mutilated, and sexually assaulted. Thousands more carrying wounds, bullets, and shrapnel from the memory of that terrible day they endured. Hundreds taken hostage, including survivors of the Shoah.
Now, here we are, not 75 years later but just seven and a half months later, and people are already forgetting. They’re already forgetting that Hamas unleashed this terror, that it was Hamas that brutalized Israelis, that it was Hamas who took and continues to hold hostages. I have not forgotten, nor have you, and we will not forget. (Applause.)
And as Jews around the world still cope with the atrocities and trauma of that day and its aftermath, we’ve seen a ferocious surge of antisemitism in America and around the world: vicious propaganda on social media, Jews forced to keep their — hide their kippahs under baseball hats, tuck their Jewish stars into their shirts.
On college campuses, Jewish students blocked, harassed, attacked while walking to class.
Antisemitism — antisemitic posters, slogans calling for the annihilation of Israel, the world’s only Jewish State.
Too many people denying, downplaying, rationalizing, ignoring the horrors of the Holocaust and October 7th, including Hamas’s appalling use of sexual violence to torture and terrorize Jews.
It’s absolutely despicable, and it must stop.
Brain Worms and Porn Stars - Yes, there are days where it feels that a hostile foreign power somehow got Trump and Kennedy to run to humiliate America in front of the world. Today is one of those days. Here’s a top story in the NY Times right now:
Here’s another story from the NY Times this morning:
Ms. Daniels said the future president had invited her to dinner inside his palatial Lake Tahoe hotel suite. He answered the door wearing silk pajamas. When he was rude, she playfully spanked him with a rolled-up magazine. And when she asked about his wife, he told her not to worry, saying that they didn’t even sleep in the same room — prompting Mr. Trump to shake his head in disgust and mutter “bullshit” to his lawyers, loud enough that it drew a private rebuke from the judge, who called it “contemptuous.”
Ms. Daniels then recounted the sex itself in graphic detail. It happened, she said, after she returned from the bathroom and found Mr. Trump in his boxer shorts and T-shirt. She tried to leave and he blocked her path, though not, she said, in a threatening manner. The sex was brief, she said, and although she never said no, there was a “power imbalance.”
“I was staring up at the ceiling, wondering how I got there,” she told the jury, adding that Mr. Trump did not wear a condom.
The testimony was an astonishing moment in American political history and a crowning spectacle in a trial full of them: a porn star, across from a former and potentially future president, telling the world what she was once paid to keep quiet about.
Let’s Do More, Worry Less - We are still raising money for and supporting three critical projects:
Thanks to the many thousands of you who have already contributed or volunteered!
Keep working hard all. Proud to be in this fight with all of you - Simon
So THAT's how the brain worms got into the Republican Party! Well, at least now we know; perhaps a cure can be developed. Happy Wednesday, y'all! I'm getting ready to start writing a lot of post cards!
Biden’s holocaust memorial speech was so great. The entire world has forgotten about the evil unleashed by a brutal terrorist group - Hamas. I wish more
Democrats would focus on this.
