So...I participated! I am in Oregon CD5. My VERY FIRST activity as a political warrier! The linkage between Zoom and the partner organization was pretty clunky; It took me at least 5 tries to get on the zoom meeting and then I couldn't see the buttons to get into one or another workroom, whether phone bank or postcards. There was no textbanking, for which I was a bit disappointed. So, I chose phone banking and one of the gals hosting the event put me into that room. From there, it was reasonably easy and I talked to several persons, probably was able to complete my task with 50% of the calls, far higher percentage than I expected. Chatting with folks was FUN and encouraging. I think I'll continue doing it...maybe I can find a textbanking opportunity for the 12 congressional candidates in the Hopium support group.
I'm sorry you were disappointed, but somewhat puzzled about why you expected texting as an option. All the posts that I saw on Hopium about the event said phonebanking and postcard writing with NO mention of text banking.
With respect to Zoom issues, were you on a phone, tablet or laptop? Zoom is configured differently on each platform. (I'm not an Apple user, so there may be further differences between Apple and Android). I woud recommend the following for ease of use by platform:
Laptop > Tablet > Phone
I would recommend checking out Field Team 6 for texting to register new voters or Activate America for texting to get out the vote:
The postcard group was pretty chaotic to start because many of us did not have the script or addresses. But the tech guru was really good and gave us a bunch of links. I was able to enroll and get addresses and it helped to have the script choices in the chat. However, the message was pretty bland; shouldn't we at least say "Vote for DEMOCRAT Janelle Bynum"? No way for the recipient to know where the postcard is coming. Just a suggestion for the next one.
Marte, They streamined the postcarding process. Yesterday, I got an email with the script and a list of 10 names and addresses for this week's Zoom - plus written instructions for how to get more (from the sameplace we got last weeks addresses), so I hope you'll try again..
One more thing: This morning I got a text asking if the event had been "good" or "bad" or if I hadn't participated. There needs to be a "fair" option. I tried entering "good but chaotic" but of course the bot didn't recognize that so I ended up not answering at all.
If you enter GOOD or BAD, it will come back with an option to text back reasons for your rating. So I usually text back GOOD unless it was a disaster, but I did text back that there were some glitches in the execution.
FYI, this text is coming from MOBILIZE and the event planner doesn't have any input on the feedback feature.
There is no live link where it says ‘here’ to register for Thursday 8/15 in this post. And the latest newsletter’s link is broken too. Pls advise, tks!
Hi, I have been getting additional addresses from "Winning The House" website. Going Well!
I have noticed that postcard completions for Janelle Bynum, OR is about 40%. The other candidates have more like 80% completed addresses. So, if you have looking to do more postcards, please, consider addresses for Janelle! Thanks, Jean
Just finished phone banking for Rudy Salas in CA-22 (using Scale to Win platform) tonight. Total gringo here and most of the callers I connected with tonight were Spanish-only speakers. So I'd like to suggest that Hopium and\or DCCC consider creating dedicated Latino phone-bankers and use us gringos for majority-English districts. Salas' district is almost 50% Latino, incidentally, and only 28% white.
Charles thanks for this feedback. It’s statistically anomalous for you to get more than a handful of Spanish only prime Dems. But I will send it up the chain. Thanks for being with us tonight!
Thanks Susan & Robbin! Looking forward to it.

Thanks Cheryl! I've been on vacation so missed Thursday, but this is great info. I will definitely sign up for one or more again.

Is the registration link working for this? I didn't see an active hyperlink.

I may have been having an off night. First five callers I connected with were Spanish speakers.
