Afternoon all, our good friend Rep. Eric Swalwell dropped by this afternoon for a live update from inside the House Democratic Caucus. You can find a recording and transcript of our talk, above.
Rep. Swalwell has been a very important leader for us this year, fighting hard against the extremists in committee room after committee room, on television and podcasts, and perhaps most importantly though his creative daily production of original social media content. I consider him one of our top communicators in Congress and encourage you to follow his work on whatever social media you prefer (always @repswalwell and @ericswalwell)
Here is something he just put out on Bluesky, “House Republicans are on an Epstein vacation” -
Here is he is a few weeks ago questioning “Crash” Patel:
In our discussion Rep. Swalwell reflects on our strong first week in the fight over the budget; their extraordinary cowardice in sending everyone home (again); the clear threat that the release of the Epstein Files is to Trump; and the need for Dems to fight more aggressively against his escalating authoritarianism. He ends our talk by making a big pitch for everyone to stay focused on winning the fall elections - especially Yes on Prop 50 - and delivering a clear message of repudiation to Trump and the Republicans right in the middle of the end of year budget negotiations. Amen to that brothers and sisters of Hopium!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you haven’t gotten this morning’s post be sure to check it out before watching our discussion. It provides helpful context for our lively and informative talk. And remember you can find all of our interviews and podcasts on the Hopium site under Podcast and on YouTube, Apple Podcasts and Spotify too.
Enjoy this conversation with another one of our leaders doing the work that needs to be done in this time of challenge for the nation, and don’t forget that Senator Cory Booker joins us tonight live at 8pm. Click here right before 8pm to join us. Excited I can get you updates from both the House and Senate as we kick off week two of this incredibly important fight over the budget, the incredible harm Trump is doing to the country, and the need to find a better path.
Keep working hard all - Simon
