Happy Friday all. A few things today:
More Encouraging Economic News - A second measure of inflation, the Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index, (PCE), fell by 0.1% last month. The other big inflation measure, CPI, was 0% in October and just 0.1% in November. Now we have PCE coming in at -0.1% in November. Yes, this means by this measure, overall prices are now *falling* - remarkably good news. With wages continuing to grow at a 4-5% annualized rate while prices are holding steady or even falling we are in the midst of particularly good run for American workers.
Joe Biden and the Democrats are ending the year on a very upbeat economic and political note. The economy is closing strong, consumer sentiment is rising sharply, we won elections across the country in 2023 and our poll numbers have ticked up in recent days. Congrats everyone! We head into the holiday break with a bit of momentum and wind at our back. 2023 was a good year for us; let’s commit, together, to make 2024 an ever better one.

More than 1,200 people have already plead guilty in an historic party-wide conspiracy to overturn an election and end American democracy. GOP leaders repeatedly echoing Putin, delaying Ukraine aid, slavishly doing his rancid bidding. George Santos. MAGAs abusing their power in the Senate to hold up hundreds of appointments to the Pentagon, dozens to the State Department and shut down government programs critical for our collective security. Promises of mass detention camps and mass deportations. A sitting Congresswoman kicked out of a movie theater for groping her boyfriend. The head of CPAC, a highly influential conservative organization, charged with sexual assault and financial improprieties. Trump declared ineligible to run in 2024 for leading an insurrection; already found liable for attempting to rape a woman in a department store and for committing massive years long financial fraud; stole and almost certainly shared our country’s most important national security secrets; parroting Hitler for fuck’s sake.
Trump has given his allies permission to be the very worst of themselves, and of America. It remains shocking on so many levels, and as unpleasant as it is, we cannot look away. It’s a reminder of why we are here, and why we are going to do everything next year to make sure we win.

Just saw the news that Wisconsin’s hyper-gerrymandered maps have been struck down and new maps MUST be drawn in time for the 2024 election!!!! We helped do that peeps.....pat yourselves on the back because this is hands down one of the most consequential actions taken as a result of the D grass roots hard work to win elections all the way up and down the ballot and it will 💯 percent have national implications. Describing Trump's attack on E. Jean Carroll as attempted rape isn't accurate. The judge said it WAS what most people would call rape, just digital rather than penile.
The following from AP explains it:
"The judge said the NY Penal Code requires vaginal penetration by a penis, while forcible penetration without consent of the vagina or other bodily orifices by fingers or anything else is labeled “sexual abuse” rather than “rape.”
He said the [NY] definition of rape was “far narrower” than how rape is defined in common modern parlance, in some dictionaries, in some federal and state criminal statutes and elsewhere.
The judge said the verdict did not mean that Carroll “failed to prove that Mr. Trump ‘raped’ her as many people commonly understand the word ‘rape.’ Indeed ... the jury found that Mr. Trump in fact did exactly that.”
