Afternoon all. Excited to share a just completed interview with Rep. Aftyn Behn, our dynamic candidate running in a special election for the US House in the 7th District of Tennessee. I was skeptical that Aftyn could make this deep red seat competitive, but through unbelievable hard work and deep organizing, she has. Her polling has the race within single digits. The national GOP, including Trump’s own SuperPAC, is spending millions. The DNC has also made a huge investment in this race, and many of you have been working on this race for months. When a race is this close at the end any thing is possible, particularly as the news in this final week of the election is filled with GOP dysfunction and malevolence, and Trump’s poll numbers just keep dropping.
My favorite moment in the interview is towards the end when Aftyn tells us:
I didn’t even know what “Hopium” meant until this campaign—my Gen Z staff kept using the term. Now it’s my whole personality. I’ve embraced the Hopium!
