A Really Bad Jobs Report, Encouraging New Texas Poll, Senate Votes On Blanche Today - Make Your Calls Everyone!
We LOST jobs last month. Our failed President just keeps failing......
Morning all. The confirmation of Todd Blanche is likely to come up for a vote in the Senate today. Senators Collins and Murkowski are nos. With McConnell not voting we need just one more Republican to vote no and Blanche goes down. Make your calls everyone, particularly those of you with Republican Senators!
The big news of the morning is that our failed President just keeps failing. We got a really bad jobs report today - 23,000 jobs lost in July, May and June revisions took another 103,000 jobs off the books. So total job loss in this report is 126,000 jobs from the previous report. Ugly stuff.
There is no question that Trump’s policies - war, tariffs, mass deportation, big ugly bill - have not just caused costs to rise for our workers and businesses and real income growth to turn negative, but they have dramatically slowed the economy too, creating less opportunity for the American people:
Over his two terms Trump has the worst jobs record of any President since Hoover:
Note that since WWII job growth has been three times faster under Democratic Presidents. Three times.
Here’s an updated version of that chart that Bill Clinton referenced at the Democratic Convention in 2024:
Yes, in every way imaginable our failed President keeps failing…..
As I discussed in my weekly talk this week, Fed Up With Trump’s Failures And Betrayals, The American People Are Giving Us A Chance To Lead Again. It’s An Opportunity We Must Seize, Together, Trump’s ongoing failure has caused the election to move even further away from them and encouragingly towards us. Here’s confirmation of that movement in a new, high-quality poll in battleground Texas:
Statewide Races: Remain Close, With Movement Toward Dems Since June
US Senate: Talarico 47% Paxton 43% (from 46–46% in June)
Governor: Abbott 46% Hinojosa 45% (from 49–43% in June)
Attorney General: Middleton 46% Johnson 44% (from 45–40% in June)
Lt. Governor: Goodwin 48% Patrick 46% (from Patrick 49–44% in June)
Generic Ballot: GOP 47% Dem 45% (from 49%-42% in June)

Many are asking about the news coming from the DNC these days. Strongly recommend that folks read Chair Ken Martin’s new memo, The DNC Is Building a Democratic Party That Can Win the Moment and Win the Future. While the DNC has done important things under his tenure, including the adoption of a new Presidential primary calendar, I think Chair Martin would be wise now to shake up his team and make big changes there. For things simply must get better at the DNC.

The Texas potential voting pool has changed significantly since 2018 when Beto lost by 2 points to incumbent Sen Ted Cruz.
Since 2018, we have seen approximately 680,00 more “White” Texans die than Hispanic Texans.
On the front end, we see an estimated 180,000 to 250,000 Texas Hispanics turn 18 each year v. 90,000 to 110,000 “white” Texans turning 18 each year.
If we take the low end of that range, we can assume 720,000 more Texas Hispanics have turned 18 since 2018 than “white” Texans turning 18.
So, the potential voting pool since 2018 has 678,555 fewer “whites” on the back end (deaths) and at least 720,000 more Texan Hispanics who have turned 18 than Texas whites.
Assuming that whites lean Republican and Hispanics tilt Dem, the voting pool gives Dems about a 1.4 million potential advantage.
Beto needed 215,000 more votes from the 8.4 million ballots in 2018.
Now he's blaming Hegseth for running out of ammunition and, I guess, not telling him.
Hegseth needs to explain it in a way he can understand: "Sir, it's like when you run out of blue chews."
We lost the Iran war in the first 4-6 weeks and the rest is pretending this didn't happen.
